As many advocacy groups have already taken note, seniors also make extensive use of the Net to participate in activism. They write letters to legislators & government agencies, collect information and organize their peers. Greenpeace Germany has a senior activist network called "Seniorenteam" which has been functioning successfully off-line for several years and is now going online.

AARP and 50Plus are two examples of advocacy groups that have made significant use of the Internet in communicating with members. AARP is considered one of the most powerful interest group associations anywhere -- and the Net has only reinforced this position.

Links with School Children

Seniors also engage in intergenerational activities that link school children with seniors as well as advising children of aging parents about health care and retirement communities.
